I am a long-standing Eurosceptic. As such, I voted against the Nice and Lisbon Treaties, and other integrationist initiatives, when in Opposition. Since then, I continued to vote against integrationist measures and for a fairer deal for the British taxpayer.
Following the removal of al-Qaeda from Afghanistan, which was achieved shortly after the initial intervention, I opposed the morphing of the mission into one of nation-building from 2006 onwards.
Dale Farm, near Crays Hill, was the largest illegal traveller site in the UK – if not Europe. No-one is looking to discriminate against a minority, but it is only fair and right that anyone who lives in the community should abide by its laws.
There needs to be a good reason to change the checks and balances of our constitution. But the changes proposed by successive Governments have so far failed to provide them.
