MP thanks all election candidates for putting themselves forward
John Baron MP has thanked all local election candidates for putting themselves up for election, and particularly praised Conservative candidates for their achievements in the community. The Council was Conservative led but the result is no overall control.
John said:
“In thanking all candidates for standing, my particular thanks go to our Conservative colleagues, whether successful or not. Our democracy depends on people putting themselves forward to serve the public, and those who take the initiative deserve our thanks and appreciation.”
“My thoughts are very much with those Conservative Councillors who have lost their seat, particularly given the hard work they have put in to serve our community over the years – they should be proud of their achievements.”
“I will be relaying the message from our candidates to the Government and, meanwhile, look forward to further working with the Council in serving the residents of Basildon and Billericay.”
